Reshmi Zulfae. (Foot in Mouth incident)

A funny thing happened last Friday….

One of our Intellectual Service Delivery Leader decided to impart moral and social ethics to one of the TSC reps.

This rep had grown his hair real long, had a pony tail and came across as a real rock band fan, chilled out in his own world minding his own business.

But somehow he offended the business ethos of our esteemed leader who approached him to give him piece of his conditioning.

He told him that his outlook is unprofessional, and he might need a haircut. Ironically enough this SDL is himself ‘Hair deprived’.

No offence but this is almost like a lame telling a sprinter to run slow, or a blind telling the archer to mind his target.

To this intruding the private space comment, our ever so chilled out rep answers, ‘Is this something to do with your inferiority complex since you don’t have any’.

My purpose of writing here is not to highlight the foot in the mouth tendencies of our leaders.

I want to touch base on a deeper issue of audacity of people to not only judge basis their personal prejudice and perception but also to force it as a mandate.

I feel that is where it all begins, democracy Vs Dictatorship.
Where one fosters freedom of expression and space, the other intrudes and forces the issue.

I read Mein Kampf and believe you me, Adolf Hitler almost successfully justified the killings of millions in the name of patriotism.

Such is the power of perception and conditioning. Mind is a powerful tool and has the unbelievable ability to rationalize everything.

SDL will dare not put across the same request to a Sikh I am sure because that hurts the religious sentiments.

A little more power of numbers though lets say in France, he can make a country wide rule that turbans are not allowed.

Who decides what is professional is something I fail to understand. I am afraid free flowing hair dude looks pleasing to the eye compared to a bald leader.

Should we make wearing wigs to office a mandate in that case?

After the remark from our chilled out rep, this SDL was infuriated and demanded the employee id and team details of the rep.

No wonder his inflated ego was busted flat.

Life gives us nth opportunities to learn and be bigger than our conditioning, to not judge and have no preconceived notions but ego just doesn’t allow that to happen.

I was hoping that our SDL learns from it and doesn’t pump his already inflated ego by demanding the reps ouster.

However expecting that is a stupidity as if he had that much intelligence, why would have the whole thing started.
